Svetlana Matt is the current Director of Public Policy at DISH. Svetlana also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University, where she teaches a course on AI Ethics, Law, and Policy. Her experience includes working on AI policy at both Meta, where she handled global AI legislation and policy development, and on Capitol Hill. While on Capitol Hill, Svetlana served as Legislative Director for Congressman Jerry McNerney (CA-09), handled technology and telecommunications policy for the Congressman and his work on the House Energy and Commerce Committee and the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee, and led the staff work for the House AI Caucus. Key pieces of legislation that she helped to get enacted into law include the AI in Government Act––one of the first AI bills to become law. Additionally, Svetlana also co-chaired the Congressional Tech Staff Association, a bipartisan and bicameral organization for staffers who work on tech policy on Capitol Hill. Svetlana’s experience also includes working at the U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. Department of the Treasury, Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, and the World Bank. She holds a J.D. from the University of California College of Law, San Francisco, and a B.A. in Economics and International Political Economy from the University of Puget Sound.
